Last month's TakeON! Executive Stretch event saw a crowd gather to hear Craig Robertson tell the retail success story that is The Briscoe Group. Craig's charity of choice to receive proceeds from the evening was Cure Kids.
Just as TakeOn! is a partner of The Briscoe Group, Briscoes is a partner of Cure Kids. Each year the 80 retail stores that comprise the group fundraise hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's a huge success both in terms of the money raised, but also increased staff engagement - with each branch attempting to outdo every other.
So when we asked the GM of Operations at The Briscoe Group to speak to other executives about his learnings, and to nominate a charity to benefit from the ticket sales, it was inevitable that Craig pick Cure Kids.
The purpose of Cure Kids is simple: Every single day, its researchers are driven to find the cures for life-threatening illnesses that affect many children. The charity focuses on raising funds so that vital medical research can continue until researchers find the cures that kids need. It funds the cures, they find the cures.
We were delighted that Craig joined us at our offices again when Paul Stewart handed the cheque over to the Cure Kids team of Partnership Manager Casey Potatau and Partnership Fund Raiser Gina Franks.
Make no mistake, everybody likes to hear, and hopefully learn from, success stories. But they LOVE to hear that that success is being shared with those most in need.
