‘Twas the morning after a mid winter function, And the team at TakeON! had scones for consumption...

While the Medical Assurance Society (MAS) Auckland recovered from mid-winter celebrations, Chris and I spread joy by bringing a batch of freshly made goodies to the team. This made us feel a bit like Santa’s helpers during this week’s sconing.
This fine tradition started in our workshop near the north pole (well, that’s how chilly Mt Eden feels today), evolving from ‘High Day Friday’ team talks. Once a fortnight we discuss our peaks of the week over shared lunch. We wanted to extend the success of these Friday’s to other Auckland businesses, through the gift of scones.
Instead of coming down the chimney, we used the front door of MAS’s central office to share jam, joy and cheese scones. While they indulged, it was revealed that there had been a bit of healthy competition during the air hockey and table tennis tournaments at their mid-winter party! While some staff discovered unknown talents, others could barely hit the ball! There was general consensus that these competitions were an exciting part of the team’s week.
The Aucklanders were nominated to be sconed by the lovely Sonya, who is part of the MAS people in Wellington. Nominations are a great way to reward and acknowledge teams doing great things! At the same time, sconing encourages positive dialogue in the workplace. If you think you know of a business that deserves a good sconing, please use the contact form on the right.
Merry Mid-Winter and Happy Sconing Everybody!
